Learn More About CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a light touch, non-invasive method that improves the function of the craniosacral system in turn improving the health and function of the whole body through relieving pain and dysfunction.  The craniosacral system (CSS) is a system that protects and surrounds the brain and spinal cord with cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and the three membranes in the head and spine. This system has access to the whole body through the central nervous system and extends to the entire body through connective tissue.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) may improve the functioning of the central nervous system, as well as many other systems of the body such as digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, circulatory, and more.  CST has also been shown to help with the physical components related to such somatic conditions as Post Traumatic Stress, depression, and anxiety.  For more information, please visit www.upledger.com and explore the website.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) Sessions – What to expect
Sessions are typically booked for 60 minutes. Sessions with infants may be shorter, closer to 45 minutes.

The client remains fully clothed while lying on a massage table.  The client can expect to be greeted by myself, an Upledger-trained CranioSacral therapist, who is taught to practice physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual neutrality while remaining open and grounded. Trained practitioners practice letting go of their personal ego to maintain no preconceived notions and remain non-judgmental of each individual’s process in every session.  These sessions are unique in that a client’s Inner Wisdom, or what Dr. John Upledger called Inner Physician, guides the session.

It's a good idea to come to your session well-hydrated with extra water for after your session. Please wear comfortable clothing; it is best to avoid pants with belts, buttons, and those that are restrictive for movement, like jeans.

After your session, be gentle/kind to yourself.  The session can continue to integrate for a couple of days or more.  Simply notice where your awareness takes you. If your body wants to move, move; if your body wants to rest, then rest.  Stay hydrated and turn your attention towards your body, giving it permission to express itself and know you are listening to it by responding in action of doing for the body while being in your cognitive awareness.
